Re: Using FRP During Retirement
I was planning to keep all my historical information right in the planner. That is why I asked to fix my retirement year, or starting year of the simulation. I'm assuming I can just adjust each year that passes with actuals and have the planner recalculate the future years. Do you see any issues wi...

Simple question regarding time periods
If I specify a time period in the planner, let's say a 30 year plan length age 65 to age 95, what does this really mean? Doesn't that carry me right until my 96th birthday? Why would I think that? Because 65 would specify the year from the moment I turn 65 and then the entire year following, until t...

Re: Seeking specificity around Flexible spending policy
Thanks. So here is a strange thing, not a question, but an observation... Flexible and Conservative aren't much different from each other for my inputs. But Stable is very different, lower Probability of Success for the same Annual Retirement Spending, as expected. This is very useful. I find the FR...

Re: Seeking specificity around Flexible spending policy
I'm a person who likes to see decision rules in a table. Is this a correct representation of the flexible spending policy? Thank you.

Re: Seeking specificity around Flexible spending policy
OK, I think the toggle was set to Stable. Now it's on Flexible, and I see different % Expenses Funded, percentages below 100%, going down to 90% which is my floor. So let me test my understanding. I'm going to retire on my 65th birthday, and I'm going to define my fiscal year as beginning every year...

Re: Seeking specificity around Flexible spending policy
Thanks, Jim. I'm confused by this language too: " However, following good years when the portfolio has a balance that’s greater than the starting balance, the flexible policy allows the percentage of expenses funded to grow well above 100%." When I look at my plan, percent of expenses fund...

Seeking specificity around Flexible spending policy
Hi Jim, I need some help in determining how to set spending budgets after the first year of retirement is over. From you language below, it's clear that if the portfolio has a lean year (negative growth), then you don't get the COLA the next year. A good year is a year of positive growth. But the la...
