Re: Order for Withdrawals

What you've noticed is basically by design. The withdrawal logic isn't smart enough to do that sort of real-time tax optimization and I'm reluctant to add more twists to that code because it's already very delicate. (it's over 15 years old now). Depending on how many years of expenses you have befor...

Re: Correct Entry Amount for Social Security

Yes. That's corret. The Retirement Income input uses an implicit cola type of tracks inflation and also is assumed to be 100% taxable. You can verify this in the detailed view tab by checking the after tax income column. Assuming that's the only income cash flow, you should see this staying steady f...

Re: Correct Entry Amount for Social Security

That sounds right to me and yes, FRP will automatically adjust the cash flow amount between now and when the cash flow starts. As I understand it, the SS estimates are shown in today's value dollars and the payment amount will be COLA'd between now and when you start receiving it. So entering the ca...

Re: Upgrade most recent version will not open

What you describe about the program listing showing just remove only sounds right. I'm a bit at a loss since this seems to be happening at startup and I can't reproduce it myself. I did just spin a new beta to change the startup code a bit. A few releases ago I ran into an issue with heap space and ...

Re: Upgrade most recent version will not open

Hmmm. It might be worth giving the latest beta version a try. It has the latest java update embedded in it and although I don't know of any specific launch issues it might have fixed, it's probably worth a try. Re: Directory and .frp file access for MacOS

Red Head,

Thanks for writing this up. MacOS/Java file permission issues have been a recurring headache for many users so it's good to have this solution so well documented.

Re: Upgrade most recent version will not open

I've had a handful of reports of this happening in the past 6 months and it seems to be some sort of windows update java interaction issue. So far the issue has been corrected for everyone who's reported it by 1) running windows update and installing any updates available, then 2) rebooting the comp...

Re: Best way to track my portfolio vs projection

As you mentioned, inflation makes it hard to track amounts across runs of the planner that are several years apart. You could use a spreadsheet that automatically adjusts amounts for inflation across the years. The columns could have years and each row could be an amount you'd like to track across pl...
