Re: flexibleretirementplanner.com & downloaded version
There's probably a timer on how long the .jnlp launcher will cache the frp.jar that it downloads from the website. I think it's configurable in your Java control panel, but I'm not positive. The whole point of the jnlp launch system retrieving the frp.jar from the hosting website is to ensure you al...

Re: flexibleretirementplanner.com & downloaded version
The FRP program never sends any data to the FRP website under and circumstances. However, whether the FRP website needs to be up to run FRP depends on how you're using the program. If you installed FRP on windows or downloaded it manually and are launching FRP using the frp.jar file, the website doe...

Re: New user with multiple questions
For # 1, I'd suggest adjusting the "taxable percent" field in additional inputs to get to the correct average tax rate for specific income sources that have a lower average tax rate. For example, if you set the taxable percent on an income cash flow to 50%, this will have the effect of cut...

Re: License key disappeared
Thanks for the heads up on this. I haven't heard anyone else mention this, but there could always be some sort of latent corner case bug. FRP uses Java's built-in persistent store feature, so the code for license key storage is pretty trivial on the FRP side. You didn't mention the version you upgra...

Re: RMD & IRMAA
Unfortunately, there isn't any way to do this automatically. You may be able to get a rough approximation of the extra expense by adjusting the income tax rate upwards to account for the extra costs that will be incurred when RMDs are higher, but it'd be a very rough estimate at best. Another approa...

Re: Sensitivity analysis results vs. main simulation results
Do you have any entries in the top window of additional inputs? Either way, I'm happy to take a look at what's going on with your setup if you email the .frp file to info@flexibleretirementplanner.com. IMPORTANT: PLEASE DON'T EMAIL A .FRP FILE THAT CONTAINS YOUR PERSONAL FINANCIAL INFORMATION. BEFOR...

Re: Sensitivity analysis results vs. main simulation results
The general idea with sensitivity analysis is to test out wide variations inn two of your planner input parameters. The default is to vary expenses and rate of return. The upper and lower bounds you set for each of these two varying inputs is up to you depending on how you're thinking about your pla...

Re: Sensitivity analysis results vs. main simulation results
You can use additional inputs with sensitivity analysis, but you just have to take into account any conflicts between what you've set up in additional inputs and the parameters sensitivity analysis is varying. Based on what you've described, I think you could leave all the income cash flows as is in...

Re: Sensitivity analysis results vs. main simulation results
The sensitivity analysis feature uses the regular simulation code, so the issue has to be something to do with planner inputs. Do you have anything set up in Additional Inputs? Additional Inputs settings get layered in on top of whatever settings are used in the main sensitivity analysis window. Tha...

Re: minimum % of expenses to fund
Yeah, this is admittedly confusing. The answer has to do with the logic that controls the color of the stop light: From the documentation: https://www.flexibleretirementplanner.com/wp/documentation/planner-output In order to get a green light, the simulation must end with a positive portfolio balanc...
