Re: Taxes

I'm glad you're finding the planner helpful. In the detailed output tab, there's a radio button on the top-right of the window with a label 'show more detail' that adds a bunch of extra columns to the year-by-year display. If that doesn't have what you're looking for, you can also right-mouse on the...

Re: Variable expenses and inflation

Thanks for the question. The 'no cola' spending cashflows don't include cost of living (inflation) adjustments and that's why the amount shown in the yearly detailed output table decreases each year. All of the dollar values displayed in the planner's output are shown in today's value dollars. So if...

Re: College Saving Plans

Axel, Thanks for the kind words about the planner and the excellent question about how to account for tax free college savings. The planner doesn't have explicit support for tax free college savings programs, but you can get a decent approximation by using taxable savings and making some rough adjus...

Re: Issue with the Sensitivity Analysis not functioning prop

Some of the column headings I'm seeing in your latest sample report don't appear in my report, and I don't see anywhere in the settings where I can add columns, e.g., the RMD columns that don't appear in my report . There's a set of radio buttons at the top of the detailed output view labeled show ...

Re: Issue with the Sensitivity Analysis not functioning prop

Websight - Thanks for emailing the frp file. frp files are basically text files and although they shouldn't be manually edited, they can be viewed. So I brought up the file in an editor and I went through the data line by line to validate it. Everything checks out and the file doesn't show any signs...

Re: Issue with the Sensitivity Analysis not functioning prop

If possible, could you email a sample .frp data file to info@flexibleRetirementPlanner.com that shows this. I can't seem to reproduce it on my end with some quick entries, but I'm guessing I'm just missing something. Please be sure to change the numbers enough so there's no personal information in t...

Re: Issue with the Sensitivity Analysis not functioning prop

One last thing. Because I'm trying to plan out for retirement for both my wife and I, my inputs are based on income and expenses for both of us. Is there anything special or additional I should be considering? Because there isn't explicit support in the program for multiple spouses of different age...

Re: Issue with the Sensitivity Analysis not functioning prop

If I enter "additional inputs" for income, it asks that I also enter the "taxable percent". What does this % represent, i.e., my income tax rate or the % of the amount that's taxable? It's asking for the "% of the amount that's taxable". The simulation will then multip...

Re: Issue with the Sensitivity Analysis not functioning prop

Do you mean that you get a 0% probability for every simulation run in sensitivity analysis (eg every cell in the heatmap graph)? The probability that's shown in the right-hand panel in sensitivity analysis is connected to a simulation run from the heatmap with a specific set of sensitivity param val...

Re: Issue with the Sensitivity Analysis not functioning prop

My guess is that the confusion has to do with how the sensitivity analysis feature relates to saved scenarios. Basically, sensitivity analysis runs along-side whichever scenario happens to be selected. The settings you choose in sensitivity analysis aren't saved per scenario, but instead are 'global...
