I think this may be happening because goal-seek uses the taxable portfolio and perhaps your regular settings are using the tax-deferred portfolio.

The taxable portfolio is carried at a 100% cost basis (eg taxes paid on gains as they're earned). This means that unlike the tax deferred portfolio, withdrawals from the taxable portfolio don't have any taxes due.

Ah, yes you are correct!

Thanks for the speedy response, and for the fantastic tool - I use this a lot and I find simple to get the data in and is flexible enough to do what I need.
