Liquidity

Hello,
Love the calculator and have been using for years. I do have a question as I near retirement, I would like the maintain a 5% position in cash for liquidity. Currently all the investing styles built into the planner sum to 100%, but seem to omit a cash position. How are others handling this?

I'd suggest using the "custom" option and manually entering a return and standard deviation that fits your portfolio construction. There are several online tools that can help determine appropriate values for these inputs based on your portfolio mix.

One popular tool for determining the historical return from a given portfolio mix is "Simba's Backtesting Spreadsheet" which is available on the bogleheads.org site:
