Lost all scenarios in the Upgrade ????

Post by JoelAlbert1 »

Hi,

I just upgraded to the latest release (Mac).

I downloaded the software, launched launch-frp-application.jnlp. Was prompted to upgrade my Java version and did that.

I got an error message that the new version was unable to read the existing scenarios and that was all she wrote.

I can launch the new version and none of my scenarios are available.

I can launch the old version and none of my scenarios are available.

When I try to OPEN and look for the *.frp file I can only go down 2 levels and the screen is blank.

Not sure what I did wrong.....

Help ????

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks

Updated to Java8 Update 271

I also tried to grant permissions for Java to the document folder as described here:
viewtopic.php?p=3281#p3281

I never got a prompt for the Documents folder permissions, FRP launched with the standard 3 scenarios.

This is usually a problem with Java permissions and seems to be related to a conflict between MacOS permissions and newer Java versions.

The issue revolves around whether Java has permission to read and write the .frp file that holds your stored scenarios.

I don't have a mac, but as I understand it, the solution is to enable file system access for Java by going to
General Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy

From there, add you can add permission for the program "Java" to access to the file system folder in question.

Let me know if that gets you anywhere.

That doesn't seem to work ....

Java does have permissions to Removable Volumes and the Documents folder

Stange, I got it to work by disabling and enabling the permissions

working now

Glad you got it working and thanks for posting about how you did it.

This MacOS/Java permission thing seems to be getting worse not better. I think there are now at least 3 different fixes for this that all involve adjusting permissions, but each with a different set of steps.

I was hoping that either MacOS or Java would figure this out so users don't get put through so much hassle with each update, but it doesn't look that way.

Anyhow, at least you're back up and running.
