Is that the end for the web-based version?

Not at all. Earlier this year I migrated the web based planner to use Java Web Start technology, which doesn't require the Java browser plugin.

So the current 'web launch' version of the planner that's on the main planner launch page doesn't depend on the java browser plugin at all.
